Day 31 on the site

Sunday 9th of June

We are still working in different groups for the last tasks left to do for the building. The render is now more than half way through and has become a routine and a recipe easy to follow. Nevertheless, the strong tropical rain of today doesn’t allow us to render. The concrete blocks are too wet and we will now depend on the weather forecast of the next days to keep going with what we have left.

The sink has been casted and the framework was taken out the day after. The result is amazing and we just need to make sure to wet the concrete from time to time. We have already tried to see how the water runs through it, looks very close to the image renders we designed, ending on a beautiful waterfall.

With all the brackets from the dinning and kitchen in place, the wooden beams can be placed as well. When brought to site, the second side of the beam is cut according to the length between the brackets. Since the walls are not perfect, every length is different and needs to be checked for the second grove. The wooden planks have arrived and we have already started nailing them to the kitchen roof.

The kitchen counter structure is ready and waiting for the concrete countertop to be casted. The benches for the dinning area have been finished as well. Now everything that we have left to do is the dinning table. The outdoor design has finally started.

Saimi is in charge of the landscape team. She keeps in touch with plants suppliers and has started placing the outdoor pavement. The final decision on the material was to use burned clay bricks from a factory nearby. It is a slow process, but the result looks very good in contrast with the reddish tone of the walls.
