Day 15 on the site

Thursday 24th of May

The excavator is almost done with all the earth refill. Hopefully we will be able to cast the slabs soon, but before we do that we need to add gravel, sand, geotextile, waterproof membrane and insolation. Then we will be ready to lay the steel mesh and cast the concrete slabs for the floors. Today’s afternoon we will try to pour the concrete in the storage room with homemade concrete carried by buckets. This will take some time and effort but we are looking forward for it.

The teaching restaurant is growing and getting taller. Trucks full of concrete blocks, gravel, sand and other materials are constantly arriving to the site. Every time they arrive, we form a human line to be as effective as possible.

Everyone is working really hard and even some locals are giving us a helping hand. We are very grateful for these superwomen.

Tomorrow is Saturday and we will get the day off. We rented a bus, to go to the city again. For the fist time we will have lunch outside Xiamutang because the electricity will not be working until 5pm.
